Four Worlds Publishing is
pleased to make available free downloads of many of the mystic hymns of
the Halveti-Jerrahi order, most of them sung in English. Many of these
recordings were made during the mid to late 1990's and have never previously been offered to the public. Many of the
MP3s feature Gregory and Sylvia Blann along with various dervishes singing
the hymns or ilahis of the order, arranged in sets according to their
Turkish makam, with attention to maintaining the original Turkish melodies
and usuls. These ilahis were translated and amplified from
the original Turkish by Sheikh Nur/Lex Hixon with collaboration on many of
them from Gregory Blann. The oud and violin accompaniment were provided
by Van Manakas. Sufi tracks from a few other sources are also included
with credits next to their links. Although these files are not streaming
media, you can click on the files to hear them (longer file will obviously take
longer to load and play, especially on slower computers); or simply download the files for later listening
(right-click and use the Save Target As command or Download Linked File for Macs).
Also included is an album of music with words from the Gayan of
Hazrat Inayat Khan. We hope you will
enjoy the music.
